Our Mission

The Jewish Youth Connection (JYC) is a Sunday morning Hebrew School for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.  Our mornings consist of group learning in Jewish education as well as 1:1 tutoring in Hebrew reading and writing. Our school meets on Sunday mornings from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, rain or shine! At JYC, we make it our goal to give each student the individual attention they deserve.

JYC is sponsored by Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun (KJ), a leading New York City synagogue, and work in partnership with CKJ Beginners. JYC families are invited to take advantage of congregational offerings.

Our Leadership

  • Rabbi Roy Feldman, Dean

    Rabbi Roy Feldman, Dean

Rabbi Roy Feldman believes that a rabbi’s primary role in the twenty-first century is to articulate, embody, and exemplify the reasons why traditional Judaism remains relevant today. He obtained a BA from Columbia College, and his ordination and MA in Jewish Philosophy from Yeshiva University, where he is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Jewish History. For several years, Rabbi Feldman served as rabbi of the Modern Orthodox congregation in Albany, NY, and he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Council of America. He is married to Rachel Minkin, and they are proud parents of Charlotte and Millie. (Sermons)

Ruthie Hollander was born in Germany, grew up in Michigan, and now lives in New Jersey with her husband Max, her daughter Mila, and her dog Momo. She has worked in Jewish school settings for the last five years and is very passionate about educational accessibility and asking "the big questions" with her students. After taking a yearlong pause from teaching at JYC, Ruthie is overjoyed to return as its Principal. Ruthie is partnering with the mayor of her city to build a sustainability-focused community garden in her neighborhood and is the founder of Achayot: a community network that enables Jewish women to find support, friendship, free events, and Shabbat meals.
